- Up to eight one-year fellowships for leading established researchers with a project aimed at producing a groundbreaking monograph or doctoral dissertation
- Primarily tenured senior researchers and cover the fellows' own full salary

- Applicants not yet at a postdoctoral level
- Non-scientific staff
- Overhead costs and administration fees
- Exemption from teaching and similar work duties
